    Hi all,

I'd be grateful for input on how much my laptop would be worth, hoping to pop it in the paper over the weekend. It's about 18 months old and I haven't really used it in ages but it's working grand (got a macbook about 2 months after the HP and never looked back :D). I bought it in America originally so have no way of gauging a price here. Thanks :)

I'm never good at guaging prices for these things, but if i was trying to sell it i would upgrade the ram. It is cheap to buy and it'd help the sale. Upgrade to 2Gb, and what kind of condition is the battery in? Does it hold much charge?

The 12 cell battery should bump the price a bit as long as it still holds a good charge. The processor is decent as well, only thing that lets it down is the ram but that's pretty cheap to upgrade for a prospective buyer. I'd say about 250ish.

Thanks guys. Is it a straightforward thing to upgrade the RAM? I don't know too much about the workings of computers and it could get messy...

Once you find out where it is, it's generally a piece of piss. It's usually just unscrew a screw, lift off the panel, take out the existing ram chips and slot in the new ones.

Edit: 2GB patriot kit here (http://shop4memory.com/products/ddr2-so-dimm.asp) for €48 delivered.
