Macs and Sony Handycams

    Been given a Sony Handycam as a present (HDR-SR10E)....what's the score with macs and Handycam's...compatibility, editing etc...?Any good software recommendations? All suggestions gratefully received...(i've got both a macbook and an Imac running OS10)

    It seems there are issues with that camera and iMovie '08. However as always someone finds a workaround. From the spec sheet I see that it doesn't have an iLink (sony speak for Firewire) connector but instead uses a USB2.0 interface.

    Anyway I found this suggestion:
    Hi,

    I've just got brand new HDR-SR10E. Try setting your camcoder to Burn to disk. For some reason iMovie 08 will recognize the HDR-SR10E. You can start using and editing your footage directly in iMovie. Make sure that you set your HDr-SR10E to Burn to disk before you start iMovie, otherwise if you use Import from Camera, iMovie will not recognize the camcorder.
