    http://www.passionforperfume.co.uk/Aftershave/Giorgio-Armani/Red/

I got them up in Boots in Liffey Valley a fair while back, and I remember the decently sized one setting me back 15 yoyos I think? Wouldn't pay more than 15 quid on the stuff, saying that I am a cheapo when it comes to aftershave....normally go to Supervalu and go 'that'll do,cheers'

**edit: I know nothing about these matters, for what its worth.

What sort of scent do you want??

Prada man is nice, I've had a few compliments over it, definitely not strong or overpowering, but last's a good while.

The Lacoste that comes in the red box, no idea the name of it, about 40 euro for a standard bottle.. Smells the absolute ****! Not literally.. ;)

Jaipur by Boucheron. Quite hard to get in the shops but its the nicest aftershave I have ever used:

Joop Jump. I smelled it today but it's really delicious. Or Issey Miyake or Aqua Di Gio.

    Ultraviolet is gorgeous.

A day aftershave: Clinique Happy... is absolutely gorgeous. Not overpowering, very light but you can still tell it is for men.

Night/Muskier: 212 by Caroline Herrara, Hugo Boss, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs (smells unreal, always get compliments about it). A cheaper one but still nice is Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch. Not sure where you can get that.

Black Code - Armani Get's my vote.

I'd drink it if it didn't keep making me violently ill.

(Plus, it lasts for ages during the day.
Not sure if that's considered a positive?)

I use Armani Mania, love the stuff, was just in a store one day and decided to take advantage of the free samples, instantly loved it and had to go back a week later to buy it.

Quite expensive though, $100 for a large bottle.

HArd to give a suggestion without knowing the OP's taste in these things, but you can never go wrong with Armani "Acqua di Gio" or "Code" and Yves Saint Laurent's "Rive Gauche" is gorgeous. If you want something a bit different, Thierry Mugler "Cologne" is a really strange, addictive scent. Only scents I've ever received compliments on out of the blue are Rive Gauche, Acqua di Gio and Dunhill "Edition" (old Dunhill frag. Smells like lemon and clove).

Chanel Allure Sport. 60% of the time it works everytime!

Gucci Pour Homme II is very nice also.more subtle than Allure but still nice.

    All mens aftershaves seem nice.
You know when a group of lads about to head out pass you on the street
    They always smell lovely.

I like that Diesel Fuel one. Bought a bottle of it on the cheap in the airport and now can't find any more (Haven't exactly been scouring the land mind you)

Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries. Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good. They've done studies, you know. Sixty percent of the time, it works every time. :pac:

Failing that, John Paul Gaultier or Lacoste red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,528 ✭✭✭copeyhagen

la coste red and jpg are decent, bit old now though.

d & g light blue and ch 212 are my fav two aftershaves at the moment.

chicks love both too, which is always a bonus

    Egoiste Platinum by Chanel
    212 by Carolina h

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,023 ✭✭✭il gatto

I bought 212 when it came out. I loved it for a while, but I got a bit sick of it. Too sweet for me. Only frag I've used up and never replaced. Cool packaging though. The magnetic lid is class.
Opium PH is really sweet too, but I love it. I bought the EdP version too, but tbh the EdT is proably a bit nicer, imo.

I firmly believe everyone should have a signature scent and stick with it

    +1 slice

Not an easy thing to get right though

Couldn't disagree more, I usually have three or four which I swap between, much prefer to have different scents, I think people get used to your "smell" so a change every so often is better.
Think we both have valid arguments though.

People become immune to smells after time. That's how people live beside fish factories and oil refineries. If you use only one scent, you will barely notice it after a while. I wear scents because I like them. I'm not fishing for comments. If I can't smell it, I wouldn't bother. And people who smell the same all the time creep me out.:o:pac:

I used to wear Armani Code quite frequently, can be bought in a gift pack at Christmas with deodorant which is excellent.

The girlfriend loves the smell of CK Eternity.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,133 ✭✭✭Slice

Yea but people aren't fish factories, if someone you knew always smells of BO you're never going to stop noticing it :pac:

Joop for men in the reddish bottle.

Makes me go weak at the knees :D

Anybody reccommend any stores in town where you can sample a wide selection of aftershave? :)

Brown Thomas generally has most of their stuff on sample.

It's generally recommend that you only sample a very small number of after shaves at a time, three or four is the absolute max, but two would be a safer number, the scents linger and mix so you won't get a proper idea of the smell. If you're like me you'll also start mixing them up.
Even spraying on the tester sticks (is that what they are called) will leave a certain amount of the scent on your hand.

Boots in Jervis Street also have a fairly large range to check out.

I meant the wearer not being able to smell it after a while.
Anyhoo, onto more important things. Someone suggested Joop! Why? Why would you do that? In case the OP hadn't smelt the noxious gloop and he'd buy it and his friends would ostracise him, or hit him? For shame BeansMeanHynes. Unless you actually like it? No. That can't be.
Agree with Gillo as to sampling scents. Only try a small number at a time.
I try one on each wrist and then leave the shop. Give it a while to develop. After an hour see which one you keep going back to and buy that one (or both). Spraying scents onto paper strips can be very misleading as it'll smell completely different on your skin sometimes.

I tend to wear Lacoste blue quite a bit.. I only really got it as I had no other use for sterling once I got back here.. duty free ftw! :D

If something smells nice to me I'll just..get it.. Impulses ftw! :pac:

I reckon avoid the most well known smells, nobody wants to smell like someone else - I think you probably couldn't get more common than Joop

Can you sample them yourself or do you need to accost an assistant before you do so. Are they accessible or behind a counter. The perfume shop has all the fragrances behind a counter.

Armani code or davidoff adventure, neither are overpowering and smell quite masculine, well to me anyway!

Creed ftw, much nicer than the generic high street brands
Erolfa & Silver mountain water are 2 of my faves

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,023 ✭✭✭il gatto

Pricey though. You'd want to be damn sure before you spend €100+. Get some sample vials off the interweb and see if they're worth it first. They usually are though. Lovely stuff.

I change between Armani Code, Chanel Allure, 212 Sexy, A&F Fierce, D&G Light Blue and CK Euphoria. They are just for going out. Through the day I go between, Emporio Armani (Grey and white/red) and Lacoste (the silver/Grey one).

I don't think there is anything wrong with having lots of scents to choose from.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,023 ✭✭✭il gatto

    Nooooooooooooooooooo....
This stuff is common as muck! Seriously, every second pavie/farmer is wearing this in the pub of a Saturday night.

Davidoff - Cool Water is the nuts.

You're joking right? Farhenheit is common enough, but Cool Water? Everybody and their dog has that. It smells nice, but it's the most common scent imagineable.
