Bored, i was trying to install a new theme on Vista which meant renaming a few files.
    9. Rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.old.
    10. Rename themeui.dll to themeui.old.
    11. Rename shsvcs.dll to shsvcs.old.

Anyhoo....it went pear shaped somewhere along the lines and now Windows won't start.:o
It says the themes above are missing. So is it possible to stick my HD in another machine as a slave and rename the files back to their defaults? Don't have the original disk as it's bought 2nd hand.
    Once again i break what's not broke.:D

Simply, yes. You can do exactly as you asked, stick your hard drive in another pc and rename the files.

Couldn't you just boot to the command prompt and rename them there?
