pure blind luck my friend, may as well not look at them until the draw is over........ the quick picks always seem to come up trumps tho

Terry Pratchett pointed out that if the lotto is truly random then you can pick 123456 and still have the same chance of winning.

The only problem is that I know a few people using this combination so you would have to share the jackpot with a few people.

Most people do use birthdays etc so the chance of it being won when the numbers are over 31 are reduced.

Personally I think 13 is a lucky number - I have it in a syndicate in work for bonus ball - but in 8 months I have never won so what do I know???

We had a Bookie here that took numbers for the UK draw.. not the prize that you'd win over there, but odds on 3, 4, 5 and 6 numbers were offered.

One night I was lying in bed (nothing to do I guess, hubby asleep! Lol) and I suddenly was thinking of the lottery. I picked 4 numbers in my head .. don't know why.. and then fell asleep

the next morning I definately remembered 3 of those numbers but was unsure of the 4th...

circumstance that week prevented me from going to the bookies to do my numbers.... or was it fate???

That Saturday night not 3 .. but 4 of those numbers came out!! I was sick!! couldn't believe it.. hubby couldn't believe it! (thankfully told him the numbers before the draw)

I would have won £4k, which at the time was about €5000, had I done the numbers I'd 'dreamed' of

I do believe that if you are destined to win, you will... but it's not my time yet :(

And he's right. You'd probably have to be around for an awful long time to see those, or any other consecutive set of numbers come up though as there's only around 40 combinations of consecutive numbers in over 8 million total combinations.

i had a long discussion with a person about 1,2,3,4,5,6 has just much as chance as 6 random numbers in the lotto but they were having none of it.

They were convinced that they would have a better chance.

    Gave up in the end.

I work with Statistics and Modelling and such. One day in work we were a bit bored so pulled back all the winner lotto numbers from the last few years and entered them into a matrix and quickly worked out what the rankings were for the lotto numbers to appear in.

We got the statstically most likely top six and did the lotto.

Not a one of them came up! lol

put the probablilty of getting them is a lot less.

the odds are about 1 in 5.2 million
