fresh vs dried pasta, or are they both as bad...

    Its hard to get an answer on this.

    Is fresh egg pasta better than the dried pasta, or should they both be avoided??

    As usual, it depends what your goals are. I'll assume you're interested in weight loss.

    From what I can see, the dry pasta is lower in calories but slightly higher in carbs. This makes sense because fresh pasta usually has the added ingredient of egg, which would increase calories & protein.

    To be honest, the difference isn't huge. If I were eating pasta, I'd probably stick with dry because of the lower calories, price & convenience. But pasta is pasta is carb-heavy, so it's best to stick to wholewheat options and keep it to early in the day or cut it out completely, apart from cheat meals.

    Dry pasta is actually much higher in calories, the weight value given there is 57g as opposed to 128 for the fresh pasta.

    Its not necessarily a weight loss thing, its jsut something i've always been curious about.

    Dont like the dry pasta at all, but love the fresh stuff; was wondering whether this was a good or bad thing!!

    but you're right, pasta aside, my diet is a bit carb heavy, i must cut back!!

    Well... I thought that too about the weight but cooked pasta weighs more than dried so I reckon what the website did was take comparable servings of fresh & dried pasta...if you know what I mean..So 57g of dried pasta may weigh around 130g when its cooked (I'm guessing here..).
