    Apologies to Limerick people. :p

    Now the serious stuff.
I am sure once I can understand all the bits n' bobs that Lighthouse will be quite a good way to PP but at this time and moment I of course not really got a clue so here are the 3 results of a picture I took a few minutes ago in dark overcast conditions of my neighbour's back balcony and his various Dogs/Bikes and other ****e!

    Original picture Pre PP

My normal PP methods which use basic non Raw(jpg) Canon application

Raw with Lighthouse PP which looking now I over did the brightness/Exposure whatever

2nd attempt using Lighthouse PP (RAW)

I seem to be over doing the brightness in RAW, work in 20 mins so will have to experiment over the next few days, tips more than welcome.

Download some presets, i find them really handy for seeing what different kinds of processing will make the image look like. Watch a few videos online too, i found some handy tips that way. But for the most part, just mess around with it, its very easy to get good at it (although the hardest thing is to just stop and say you've gone too far).

Mmmm think I read something months ago on here about Presets, it makes sense now.
    Any recommendations?
I will check over the next few days Vids and the like.

Before you do any more go here, download the DNG profiles and install them. They will greatly reduce the amount of work you need to do to get an straight out of camera jpeg look, while still having all the flexibility of RAW.

Spent more than an hour with this and watched his video too, really interesting.
Late and I'm tired so excuse the noobie question but does it more or less make the right hand options defunct? ie do I need to sharpen image now etc, think the picture I tested on is okish without having to go to the right hand side options.
Another problem I am having is that the picture I use in Lightroom always seems darker and yet when I export it it's always brighter, so it's a bit hard for me to get the exposure exactly right.

I've just taken the picture I PP'd in Lightroom and have now put it through my Canon quick PP app I use and between the 2 I've quite a good picture now.
I def like the unsharpen feature in the basic Canon PP app.

Well, kind of. What i usually do is use the WOW presets, following the steps, adding one on top of the other untill im happy. But then, you might still go back over to the right hand side to adjust some stuff. I mean, cropping, exposure, darks, shadows, clarity etc are all over on the right and arent really tackled in the presets. So i think what the presets do is firstly give you a quick way of assessing how the picture will look using different types of PP (whether its a kind of B+W, warm, cool, etc) and also it help you to speed up your workflow.

Im not sure why this is. I dont have the same problem myself. When you export it out of lightroom, what program are you using to view it?

Well, the presets do change these values (except cropping): that's why they're called presets. Someone went to the trouble of tweaking all these little figures to give different effects, saved the procedure and then uploaded them to their site to let people download them for free. It's not like the magic lightroom elves dance around, fixing your photo without changing any of its properties

Actually, the wow presets which i suggested are different to some other presets that you can download. And, these presets DO NOT include adjustments to blacks etc...
