Ruby and Carberry are tremendous horsemen but I love McCoy's neversaydie attitude.

His ride on straw bear in the xmas hurdle is top of my list of greatest rides (apart from Emma Spencer & Emma Lavelle of course :D )

Small enough poll but understandable I guess given most people will plump for one of McCoy, Carberry or Ruby.

Two underrated jocks in my opinion are Tom Scudamore and Paul Moloney, I've watched them quite a bit in the last year or so and they generally give good value for their rides.

Back home, Paul Townend and Martin Harley are going to be two of the best Ireland has ever produced if they stay progressing as they are. Its easy enough get rides when they have their claim, its when they lose it will see whether they make it or not.

Davy Russell is very underrated back home here too, he ran Ruby very close for Champion Jockey last year and remember, Davy wouldn't be getting the same class of rides Ruby gets.

As for the the poll, Timmy Murphy gets my vote, stylish and a gentleman to boot.

There's only one McCoy, but Paddy Brennan has a bright future ahead of him. Also Jamie Moore doesn't get enough credit for most of the work he does.

I would have to say Ruby, inspite of much talked about poor rides at small meetings, the fact of the matter he is the best jockey going to drive a horse home.
AP is top class, however technically he is not better than Ruby plus his riding style does not suit all horses.
Davy Russell, Andrew Mac and Paddy Flood deserve a mention as I'd rank all of them ahead along with a few others ahead of Barry Geraghty

    Walsh

Very close between Walsh and McCoy. but will edge towards Walsh..not a criticism of McCoy but he tends to drive/whip the horses more than Walsh. Walsh seems to be able to nuture them to the line. not all the time tho, its a close call and only picking hairs really.

mc coy wouldnt lace ruby boots people get all excited about his brilliant strong riding saying "only mc coy could have won on that" after he near beats blood vessels out of the horse to get him home which may be true for some horses but i look at some winners mc coy batters home i
and i say to myself"ruby would have won on the bridle"

    +1

Walsh has a nasty habit, while under pressure, of driving the horse into the fence instead of allowing it to jump. As a result, a lot of falls. When you think about it, how come Kauto Star never jumps bad until the last couple of fences? Or, how come Kauto Star jumped faultlessly when Sam Thomas rode him?

I also can't understand how Walsh never gets brought to the stewards much. He literally does flog a dead horse. His use of the whip is a little excessive at times. I suppose some jockeys are untouchable!

The stewards love him.... exhibit one Deutschland 28th December in Leopardstown last year... how he was every awarded this race is beyond me still.
