...You hear that the sound made by clinking your teaspoon against your cup changes when you stir in the sugar, and you look on Google to find out why.

Because the molecular strucure of the tea has become denser, therefore it effectively acts as a sonic dampner.

Thats' interesting. I would try it out but we only have styrofoam cups here and I hate sugar in my tea.
I guess you know you're bored when you find something like that interesting. In ordinary circumstances I imagine its a little mundane.

OT (but everyone's bored anyway apparently), anybody else drink black coffee with no sugar but still stir it before they drink it? It dawned on me today how pointless that is

Worst thing about black, take away, coffee is the way loads of places serve it boiling hot. Then the plastic lid deforms in the heat slightly and then when you go to take a sip the coffee spills on your shirt because the lid no longer seals the top of the cup properly!

I mean wtf? Who wants lava temperature coffee? I do intend to drink it like. I didn't buy it to keep my hands warm.

No. You should be allowed splash a bit of your coffee on their forearm and if they jump it's too hot.

    That'd soon learn 'em!

I think that last post should be in the coffee forum.

Another sign of boredom - absolutely unnecessary sarcasm.

Tea is awesome. You ever put a teabag into cold water? It doesnt blend or anything. The water has to be a certain temp for it to blend properly.

Lets make this a tea/coffee facts thread.

I like both coffee and tea but couldn't drink either without two spoons of sugar.
    Hot sugarless beverages are vile.

when you start counting all the teeny holes in those square tiles on the ceiling, then counting the amount of tiles across & down and multiplying to get a rough number of how many holes in the whole lot.

or in the chinese - you know those pictures made out of hanging beads, see if you can count them all. I always get lost.

Actually I'm growing an elastic ball on my desk that helps to pass the day.

About two weeks ago I started with a crumpled post it to provide the core and then wrapped elastic bands around and around. It's a little bigger than a tennis ball at the moment but when I get it to around football size I'm going to throw it out my office window.

I'm 5 stories up so I'm hoping for a thirty foot bounce and hopefully it'll bounce (harmlessly) into somebody which will provide a much needed laughter break for me during my day.

HA I started an elastic band ball, and I didn't know how to 'start' it so I crumpled up some paper to start off too! Only got it to about the tennis ball size when I left the job :(

Well boiling is the best..cos all the oxygen brews it better...but how does the tea know how hot the water is? Thats the real question!

It probably heard the pot whistling...but does tea have ears? I hope not. Imagine that for your entire life you have been drinking ears in hot water. Turns my stomach just thinking about it. I must look into this.

    Google: does tea have ears

    ewwwwwwww

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 106 ✭✭jackbutler

you know you're bored when you actually type in "does tea have ears" into google and find a result about lumps behind your ears, and that they can be calmed by tea tree oil. If you didn't kill yourself immediately, then congrats, you're TOO bored and too lazy to actually commit suicide after learning such a boring fact.

not to be a pessimist or anything 8]
