Was anyone listening to i102-104 yesterday when they started talking about the €1 Sandwich and 50cent drinks that are now available at a convenience store.

Does anyone know where these can be bought, they were given the thumbs up by the radio show and I just want to give them a try.

Definitely wasn't joking or a tape from the 80's.

It was on at around 6:30pm yesterday evening. They tested them on air and then reviewed them.
i102-104 is a Galway based radio station so I'm not sure if they are just available in Galway or the West of Ireland or all over Ireland.

Before the summer I went into Centra in Kilcoole for lunch and a roll with ham, cheese and coleslaw was €4.19. Packed lunches this year :P

Filling station in Longford. They do nice really full rolls for 3.25 as well.

Also used to get sandwiches and rolls in a supermarket for €1 but that was because I worked there and one of the lads on the deli, liked to help his fellow workers:D

Spars sell 1 euro sandwiches, but you get like 1 filling in them, a slice of ham or a slice of cheese. havent seen or heard of the 50 cent drinks unless you mean milk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

Well it works out as €2.50 for the sandwich and €2.50 for the coffee, you'd be hard pressed to find a €2.50 sandwich and coffee anywhere else! I think it's a great deal.

Lidl sell all that stuff, for some reason I'm always afraid to try their wraps

did they not say the cheese tasted of rubber and stuck to the top of their mouths, the ham was only 27% or something of actual ham , and the drink had a bad aftertaste?

    Rightly so!

Well its peoples fault for paying these mad prices! If they don t want to, make it at home yourself. I just can t bring myself to spend soo much money on a sandwich.

A meal is one thing, but but 2 slices of bread with a few filling for 7€? Thats around £5, yeah????? Thats just craziness!

I ve only returned to Ireland a few weeks ago, I didn t think it could get anymore expensive in one year but lo and behold it did!

you can get a nice big roll for about €3.20 in cabra centra. of course, if you know how to smile and talk a little. nice staff anyway. not living there, but used to drive throught there when coming back home.

actually haven't been there for 2 months, so i don't know if the prices haven't increased since then. now i can get free sandwich at work everyday twice a day : ) finally!

Open bread in supermarket, Open butter , spread butter on bread with finger , lick finger , open packet of ham , place on bread.

Browse supermarket while eating. Is it stealing if you on the premises ?
