No sure if this has been done already - Moderators please feel free to delete and Chastise me approporiately

Am going to EP next weekend and have the horrible job of decided what alcohol to bring with me. Something that does taste like shi.te when it gets warms - all suggest welcome :)

    Praszky

and a handy little tip, line your tent with the cans around the corners, the dew off the ground makes them that bit colder than them being warm.

Cider: Linden Village or Devils Bit.
Spirits: Whiskey, or vodka (bring them in plastc bottles or mix them beforehand.
Rum: Morgan's Spiced rum, Malibu etc... mix it with orange juice or coke.

Before I get a bollocking about suggesting girly drinks like rum (i admit the malibu is a little fruity) it's a festival. Allowances have to be made. There's nothing worse than warm beer!

By the way, are you heading to see the Sex Pistols? :)

Hmmmmm. Tough one. Red wine and buckfast spring to mind (seeing as you are a wimmins and a lady of class).

Can you freeze cans? (I know from bitter experience, you can't freeze bottles :o). If you can, stick a few of them in the freezer overnight. So when you go to drink them, they will be thawing out, but still cold.

What about that warm ale much young Desmond drinks? That's nearly server at room temperature isn't it?

    sex pistols definately.

Now i was going to go down the black rum and coke, pre-mixed route but then i thought

    FLAT COKE

so i started thinking dark and stormys (black rum and ginger beer) - no fizz, cant go flat and then i realised i would have to bring about 500 bottles of gaviscon

Now the OH thinks he is going to bring a crate of guiness - so i was considering that option but then you have the morning after guiness poo and porto loos situation

or there was the red wine element but the hangover would be a fec.ker

i am so tired of thinking

Cans have a tendancy to exploded (i learnt this through bitter experience and destroying my parents brand need freezer:o)

Desmondo's drinks all come in bottles - no bottles allowed

You left them in too long. I've put beer in the freezer for 4-6 hours and what comes out can only be described as "beer slushie", although I think the alcohol might seperate from the slushie part.

My usual EP supplies include a slab of Sweet Lady H, a large bag of skittles, a bottle of vodka and a bottle of 7 up.

The sweet stuff is for Skittlebrau.

oh skittle vodka - hmmmm, brilliant

    robbo you are a genius

Buckieburd - are you around ? add vodka and skittles to the survivial list

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,987 ✭✭✭Auvers

good auld cheap ass red wine in 2 litre plastic bottles & a good old bottle of Jameson or two, you can surely buy cans of cold cola at EP to use as a mixer and 2x packs of 24 Solpadeine soluble to sort out the hangovers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

you could buy them mini bottles of coke for a mixer, although it's an expensive option.

What you want to do is decant the vodka and skittles into a different container. Leave them steep for about the length of time it takes to me get from Galway to Stradbally (about 2 hours). Then you siphon off only the now red-ish vodka mix. Over the course of the weekend, mix with 7 up.

Goes down easier than a Mercy girl.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 10,661 ✭✭✭✭John Mason

but dont you have to take the purple ones out though?

you can surely buy cans of cold cola

i usually never spend a penny at EP, well except for coffee in the morning but we have this sorted for this year - gas burner

    Screw driver.

That's it - vodka and orange juice. Can't be too bad at room temperature.

Plus it's full of vitamin C.

    Or something.

Not seaside rock but clove rock, it really tastes of cloves.

You can get bags of them.

It's a festival, so bring the cheapest and nastiest beer on offer. If you don't, you'll wish you did bring your warm beer, once you see the price of the drink in EP. They make you pay a 3 or 4 euro deposit on the plastic-glass and expect you to hang on to it all night (despite the fact that it's a festival and you will be in rag order altogether!!).

LOL - so have so never meet me.

Its a tenner deposit for the glass and i shall be the one collecting all the disgarded glass and making myself a nice little profit. i am planning on spending no more then €20.00 at EP

at another festie a few years back, one guy had a fantastic idea of digging a hole under the tent in teh ground before he puts the tent up and put a few cans in it. then piece of cardboard over it to keep ground level and pitch tent. then at last day after tent is taken down, you have nice cold cans for the last day and all is well with the world :)

I don't see what the obsession is with cold beer anyway. Presumably your cans won't be that warm, unless you leave them out in the sun to be robbed. Guinness extra stout is very nice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,571 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

    Make a fridge.
Get two of those metallicy sheets that you put on top of your tent to keep the sun boiling you alive in the mornings, put one on the ground the lie a black sack on it then lie the other sheet on top.
Fill the sack with ice and as cold water as you can. Throw in a handful of salt.
If you can keep this in the shade your beer will stay cold all weekend..

well, just a quick up date.

I brought 18 cans of Fosters and brought 6 back home with me and gave about 5/6 away.

I also brought a bottle of black rum and had a few hot chocolates with a dash of rum. there was no one selling ice this year :(
