Had a bit of free time during the day near Malahide Estuary so off I went down to the Swans, I had the 5d and the Sigma 120-300 f2.8 with me so stuck it in Servo and got some nice shots of them cleaning themselves. C&C welcome, still going through them so I will stick up some more tomorrow :) Click on the picture to go to Pix.ie and see them large.

I think the first one is fantastic, I seen your colour one, and think the B&W is better, mainly as the swan looks white, and colour is kinda yellow.

    But this looks great http://pix.ie/keithjack/642888/in/album/325468

http://pix.ie/keithjack/642893/in/album/325468 is also good, but found the sparkles in background distracting

    Great set though.
How did you process the first? it has amazing sharpness

I like the first one more, i think the swan is very regal looking, and the black and white is better than the colour.

The lens plays a big part in the sharpness of the shots and also the 5d (I find) very good in aiservo, I shot in raw and processed without sharpening and then opened in PS and used smart sharpening. I like black and white sometimes and other times colour and for some of these I like the textures that black and white emphasises. Thanks for the comments

love the first one, the shot is lovely, and the black and white conversion is very nice too.

    Nice.
Next to my job last night, The Tolka canal there were a pair of Swans and their very grown up teenage kids, still that grey colour but almost half the size of the parents.
I've never seen so many Swans in Dublin as I do these days.
