Vaccinations for Cambodia, Loas, Vietnam, Thailand?

Im just wondering about vaccinations for these countries. We will be traveling from Cambodia to Thailand but were not 100% sure what area's we will be going through. Obviously we will have to get the 'reccomended for all' vaccinations but does anyone know if its nessesary to get all of the trekking and rural ones? The TMB might suggest getting them all, but I dont particularly want to take and pay for anything I dont need.

    Thanks.

We went to our GP - I think we got vaccinated for 4 things (a 3 in 1 and a hep shot). I think it was Tetanus, Hepatitis A & Typhoid and then a seperate shot for Hep B.

I'd say that's about the minimum, better off to ask your GP. And don't forget your malaria medicine too!

Is it any cheaper to go to my GP instead of the tropical medical place or the same?

It worked out cheaper for us alright. He only charged us for one consulation fee and I think the vaccinations were less pricey too. He also gave us a prescription for a 'travel pack' which had antibiotics, anti inflammatories, antihistamines etc etc. Which was handy.

Don't scrimp on your vaccinations and your malaria tablets. Get all the recommended one's and don't go for the cheapest (most controversial) malaria tablet. You can get your malaria tablets on the drugs payment scheme so you'll only pay the first €100.

You'll be in countries where you'll be up to hundreds of miles away from a good hospital so if you get sick then you're up sh1t creek.

I was in Laos and I was glad I never had to go to hospital there as it looked 3rd world and I think even if I was dying I'd be screaming for them to fly me back to Thailand rather than be treated there. I don't imagine Cambodia is much better.

I also say one young Irish girl on the phone to her parents crying her eyes out because she had malaria and had to go into quarantine in Laos. Not nice!

Dont worry, I wouldnt be that stupid! It was really the trekking and rural vaccinations I was wondering about. We wont be doing anything too mad, were just not sure yet where we will be travelling through. I just wondered if anyone had gotten jabs that they later found out were not needed. Ive booked the consultation with the tropical medical place anyway!

    Just like home.

Loads of information on vaccinations etc. on this site. Link

Requirements for the 3 countries aren't necessarily the same so do your homework.
