PDF Entrance Fitness Tests - "Pass or Fail"

[Using the figures / times for males as, well, I am one.]

Just a quick question regarding the fitness test potential PDF recruits have to take, the handbook specifically states the tests are "Pass or Fail". I understand this to mean that you must run 1.5 miles / 2.4 km in under 11m30s but there is no bonus for doing it any faster. Similarly, you must complete 20 press ups in under one minute and 20 sit ups in under one minute. Doing 50 press ups in a minute is great and all, but you still only get the same mark as a lad who barely squeezed his 20th one out in the last second.

A friend of mine was under the impression that "Pass or Fail" alluded to the person administrating the test having a license to pass you or fail you based on the quality of your attempt and whether or not they though you could pass it given the right training etc.?

    Which is it?

    Cheers,
    Rob

    you must pass all parts.

Attempt means nothing. It is easy anyway. 20 pushups should only take 25 seconds. Same with Sit-ups.

The Run, Come on thats a gentle saunter.

The first part of yours is correct.

No it does not matter how you do it once its inside the time,I have seen lads fall over the line.Bring a stop watch and keep an eye on it just incase you need to up the pace. You don't need to be going at much more than brisk walking pace to pass this test.
