Mobile backdrop

I have been in the market for a mobile backdrop for a while now. I had one ordered and then through conversation with the seller it seemed a bit dodgy so I pulled out.

I have an appointment later and the girl called me last night to say she would like me to bring a backdrop. I did see on gumtree some for sale and have mailed the seller as they give no number. Maybe it is someone on here?

Otherwise I was thinking of just getting a rail and maybe thick material or even a roller blind to do for this evening? any suggestions?

What sort of photo's are you looking to take?

A rail with a white sheet on it may work well enough.

It's a hairdresser friend and I'm taking shots for her web site of up styles. She has decided though she would like some full length shots also and this is the reason for the backdrop.

Light wise the salon is very very bright so I shouldnt need any extra light other than the bounce flash and the salon is white from floor to ceiling also but space wise is quite tight so mirrors are close together and not enough wall to use. I was thinking a black out blind possibly? They're only about 30 euro in argos so it wont break the budget.

    Sounds like a plan.

You may even be able to use the Mirrors to your advantage. Get the Model & her reflection & use the backdrop to minimise clutter in the reflection.

I use a Lasolite Hi-Lite for places that are very tight on space, on a budget you can get all you need from Hickeys too.

If you are near me you can have a loan of the Hi-Lite if you are stuck, I am out in Dunshaughlin but on the way to Swords now..

That's very kind of you Border but I am in Lucan and car less until hubbie decides to bring it home to me. I reckon I should be good with bounmce, thanks again.

Good thinking cabain, I may try that one out. I think she is hoping for kind of glamour images but I feel I should be focusing on the hair and not the girls.

I may invest in a full portable lighting set in the near future. Hmm, birthday present from hubbie maybe(he might actually read this;))

Good luck with it. Look forward to seeing the results.

I have to keep telling myself similar things! ;)

Well I'm back and the black out blind worked quite well, I couldnt get any full lengths though but some good shots. 10 models with 3 doing costume changes in less than 4 hours, hard work but got it ok. Light got a bit dull towards the end but nothing a bit off pp wont fix. I'll upload a shot or two for c&c when I can.

    Thanks for the advice!
