I had acne as a teenager.

I've tried lots of things whenever I get a small breakout again but the best product I've ever used was this kit from the Vichy Normaderm range. It has a 3 step treatment that you do once a week for 3 weeks and a daily moisturiser and repair cream. It is brilliant. Not only does it clear up breakouts but leaves my skin really, really smooth.

It's available in most pharmacies (except not Boots) and costs between 30 and 40 euro.

I find Dermalogica products brilliant, you can get them in most beauty salons around esp their oil control lotion and anti bacterial face wash. Their exfoliator is really good too leaves skin extremely smooth with no bumps

Totally seconding the normaderm recommendation, either that kit or just the treatment cream for repairing skin - amazing stuff!

I would suggest using some witch hazel for the spots. Clears them up nicely

Dermalogica is really amazing, but I firmly believe at the end of the day there aren't any proper skin fixes, the best thing to do is eat a relatively healthy diet and if you have plenty of spots it's probably from either dairy or alcohol.

My skin used to really suffer badly from breakouts and as a result it was always red and irritated looking and blotchy. A friend recommended Dermalogica face wash, toner, exfoliator and moisturiser, as well as face masks. It started working great for me, but what really cleared up my skin even better lately was Bio Oil. Best thing I've ever spent money on !!! Ya can get it in boots. Just rub it in in circular motions on your face and ya can use it on scars too. :) Well worth it !!! I use tinted moisturiser now too and loving my skin !!! :D

    :):p;):D

I'd start by maybe drinking more water and taking multi-vitimans/minerals every day. It might help in the long term.

For skincare, try clensing your skin with a sensitive-skin facewash daily and moisturise straight after. I find Anne French moisturiser excellent - you can buy this in Boots or Dunnes Stores and some pharmacies - it has a pink/salmon colour lid and is very cheap price-wise.:D Better for dry as opposed to oily skin though, I find!

Works for me anyways ;) I never really get spots so must be doing something right...?!

In saying that, everyone's skin is different so what might work for one person, will not necessarily work for another. You'll probably have to test out a few products to find what's right for YOU :);)

What does the Bio Oil do?

There was a thread about this before. Here's what I posted:
If you have a boyfriend, cos I'm guessing your a girl, you could ask him to... ahem, 'pop some protein' (or you could do it for him).

Dab some of it onto the spot. 'Man milk' is choc full of nutrients, including the aforementioned protein, and so is great for clearing up ones skin.

Leave on your face overnight. Obviously DO NOT do this first thing in the morning before you go to work/college/school etc. Unless you've got some very open-minded colleagues/schoolmates/friends etc.

    Hope that helps!

P.S. This is not a joke.

    Still not joking.

    Aspirin Facemasks are brilliant.

Crush some aspirin 3 or 4 in a pestle and mortar (or by hand with them in a plastic bag and a rolling pin). Mix the powder with a little moisturiser or Savlon and apply all over your face avoiding the eye area, wait twenty mins or so until it dries and wash it off.

Your skin will be noticeably brighter and smoother afterwards and you can do it a couple of times a week.

It works and I don't know why but it's common knowledge on some fashion forums like The Fashion Spot etc.

I'd have thought putting oil on spots would be the worst thing to do. I'll have to dig out my bottle of BioOil and see if it helps my poor skin.. :o
