do you think a pair of lycra bicycles short over my swimming costume under my wetsuit on the day will be ok ?
I was thinking , i come out of the water take off wetsuit , have the other gear underneath , put on a t shirt over this and away i go on the bike:D ?

There are a pile of threads on this already.

If you're wearing the cycle shorts already you don't really need the swimming togs on underneath them. Wearing the togs under the cycle shorts may case additional chaffing - depending on togs.

The padding in cycle shorts may take on a lot of water and be in your way for the run. Generally not reccomended.

Alternatively - lycra running shorts under wetsuit. If you can handle the lack of padding for the cycle. Otherwise pecific tri shorts have minimal padding so are waterlogged for the cycle and don't get in your way for the run. But then you're going to have to throw a cycling top on for the cycle and keep it on for the run OR change onto a singlet

The best solution is a tri suit... wear under the wetsuit - whip wetsuit off after swim - wear tri suit for rest of race - faffing arund kept to a minimum.

    Hey there all.

I'm due to run the Dublin Brewery Triathlon in 2 weeks. Gonna be my first so it should be good fun - I'm only running this to finish it.

I have a question - clothes. I'm thinking I'll need something like this to save me the bother of changing in between swimming etc - http://www.amphibianking.ie/product_info.php?cPath=35_36&products_id=109 - 2XU Comp Tri Shorts. Am I wasting money on these, or would they be a decent buy?

    Thanks for any replies!

    Hi there Sunnyjim.
I bought a pair of tri shorts and a technical top for my second tri this year.
I had both on under the wetsuit.
The smaller padding in the shorts compared to regular cycle shorts mean less water absorbed. I didn't find the padding got in the way for the run.
The technical top under the wetsuit meant no struggling to get a stretchy top on over a wet body - cost me a minute or two in T1 for my first tri.
    Hope that helps

    Cheers.

Since I'm only doing 1km/20km/5km (swim in a pool/cycle/run), could I get away with just wearing the shorts for the swim, then chucking on runners and a fresh t-shirt to get through the cycle and run?
