If you have been with o2 broadband for a while like me, you may have started off at €30 or even €40 per month.
At the moment they have it advertised on their web site for €20 per month for new signups with a 12 month contract.

I emailed them and asked to be put on the new €20 tarriff, they said ok provided I went on a new 12 month contract. I decided thats fair enough as I need mobile broadband so it might as well be o2 fo rat least another 12 months as anybody.

Got a reply today stating that I had now been put on the €20 per month tarriff so I'd recommend that everyone does likewise.

You can change your price plan after 6 months with O2 so would suggest anyone changes. Didn't know they required a new 12month committment but sound advice if you want a discount and are happy with another 12 months.

    Hi Random,
They are being very flexible (at least they were with me) so I reckon they will consider anyone, even customers newer than 6 months. It's always worth asking at the very least.

I emailed them at this address Customer.First@o2.com

i was still in my keep me happy period.. signed up at 39.99 i think then they brought out the new plan 20.00... i rang em.. and changed over straight away no problems

a friend of mine who signed up the day before me.. rang em.. to change to the 20.00 and they said he had to wait for 6 months.. so it's probabally who you talk to and how they are feeling at the moment you speak..

on another note.... i have the o2 setup athome with the linksys router sames as when i had the 3 broadband.... which works great..

i use 3 pay as you go broadband for messing about while travelling... i'm in dublin airport right now and only scoring 700 download from speed test.. on a full hsdpa signal

I'm on €40 per month since January for what is a barely usable service.

I rang earlier in the summer when i noticed they had dropped to €30 at that stage and they told me there was no way they could change the price mid contract and that i would have to pay the €40 per month as i had signed the 12 month contract at that rate. After some complaining by me the best i could get out of them was 1 months credit... which i still have not received even after making a follow up call 2 months later about it.

I'll ring them again one of the days about it and tell them i have been talking to people who have been reduced to €20 per month and see what they say.

Any one else stuck paying €40 per month?

If they refuse and if it's possible for you, threaten to leave.

On regular O2 they offered to give me more minutes and €5 cheaper if I commit to 18months. Tempting... but maybe this means someone is about to offer something better :)

10gig fair usage policy. This means you can go over the 10gig but if you are doing it enough to affect other users service they reserve the right to cut you off or call you and start charging. It's explained "fully" on their website.

This really doesn't benefit anybody. If you're worth keeping they'll keep you. Generally threatening to leave will just piss them off and given human nature will make them less likely to want to try and help you out.

It's a tried and tested tactic with mobile operators. Remember the good old days of regular phone upgrades. You could get your upgrade a few months early if you (politely) stated that you were considering leaving cos the competition were offering a better deal.
They operate in a very compeditive market and hate loosing customers. They are trained in the art of customer retention.

So, I advise that you email and ask for the new tarriff. If you get a negative response, reply and state that you are aware of many other o2 customers getting the tarriff and that vodafone / three are now upgraded in your area and you are considering changing over to them.
Dont threaten or be arrogant, just plant the seed is all. Always worth a try

I was responding to the language of "threaten to leave" - of course I do agree you should always try as there's no harm in trying, but don't be an asshole about it as you get no where. :)

    yeah

I was using "threaten to leave" as a figure of speech in an attempt to get my messgae across with as little typing as possible. Not tomention the fact that we miss the whole non verbal thing when using forums.
