Weight loss/detox/fitness advice

    Hi all,

I need to loose a stone, or just under a stone, and kinda want to do it fast.

I wouldnt really be into "crash dieting" and my love of white bread and pasta will be challening to give up!! I must eat 6 slices of bread, at least, every day.

Is there any kind of detox I can do (safely!) that will help me do this, along with watching calorie intake. I dont excerise much at all, am would guess that I am pretty unfit so this needs to be tackled aswell, but am hoping weekly gym sessions would build up my fitness, and keep the weight off long term.

So, the detox, would like to start small..none of this get up for a cold shower and drink only honey water stuff, that would drive me mad! What should I do, begin to cut out caffiene etc for a while, and start small with the gym?

    Any advice appreciated.

Read the stickies, everything you need to know is in there. Sorry i'm not answering your question directly, but it's all explained much better in the stickies than i could ever get it across.

I know you say you love the bread, so do I, but its really worth dropping it. I made my best progress when I dropped it (some for a treat maybe ?).

Its empty/crappy carbs that doesnt really fill you.

Look at it this way which will fill you more -
    (1) 6 Slices Bread & Butter
    (2) Big ass salad with a diced chicken breast

Big calorie difference between the two like and you'll be fuller from the salad (not trying to preach here, I bloody hate salad for the record :))

All that honey water and cold showers thing is a load of balls IMHO by the way, its the sort of things that magazines and "celebs" diets talking through their arse try to sell you.

As MagicMarker said there is a whole wealth of information in the stickies and its really worth a read (and a re-read !).

The best place to start is to work out your daily calorie requirements for weight loss, G'em has an excellent detailed post on this in one of the stickies (I think its the Nutritional Info one ?).

Also, unfortunately, fast weight loss is not often possible and even when it is it generally doesnt stay off :(

Think of it this way... the weight probably didn't go on overnight, so it's not realistic to expect to lose it overnight (or at least lose it AND keep it off).

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

The bread thing...well havent eaten any today..which is an acheivement in iteself ;) and had a low fat rice dish thing with a salad for lunch..but then I topped that off with a grande latte, so prob didnt do any good.

Im gonna stick with the no bread rule (not cutting out carbs completly though) for the next while anyway.

Will check out the stickies to see what calories I have to stick to per day. Thanks everyone!

Not to jump in on LadyE's thread but my question is related to what she is talking about.

How bad is eating bread like Granary or Wholemeal sliced pans?

You can drink Latte's and eat rice dishes not to mention pasta and bread and sugar OP, but at the end of the day it'll impede your results. I'm not saying it's easy, but that's really the bottom line.

I would say 90% of people are eating too many carbs on a daily basis. The majority of your carbs should come from vegetables, the odd treat won't kill you, but personally I see starchy carbs with every meal as being ideal for one thing only and that's bulking.

It depends on what your goals are. If you're training hard, they're necessary, if not, then you really don't need them.
