I am not sure, but I think they are excluding tax, and its 8.5%.. I think..

Doesn't include sales tax, NY tax is 8.39.
Here's a handy way of calculating tax
Going there in 2 weeks :)

they exclude tax 100% certain , reason being if you're buying online from a state outside NY you don't have to pay sales tax. Buying in store though in person you have to pay the tax.

    Edit NYC sales tax http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_taxes_in_the_United_States

In my opinion you would get as good a deal on www.pixmania.ie I bought the top-of the range Fuji from them €50 less than B&H. Plus, the benefit of an Irish plug on the charger! My sister bought some camera accessorioes prior to going on honeymoon & the postman turned up demanding inport tax! Beware - and chek out Pixmania!

B&H is worth the visit even if your not buying its a different place all together like shop you have ever been in.

(They are Orthodox Jews so shop is closed certain days)

I'd suggest she is there for opening time 10 (Sunday) according to website. I was there earlier this year (midweek). From chatting to the staff, it gets a bit busy on Sunday, particularly due to being closed all Saturday.

Adorama also closes early on Fridays and isn't open at all on Saturdays. Similar to B&H, the shop is run by Orthodox Jews.

I'm going to New York in 6 weeks time myself.A trip to B&HPhoto is on the cards but i might just buy my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM off Uncle Albert as B&H don't work out much cheaper anymore when you add in the tax...:(

As a photo it is not good but it gives the bad news to those visiting New York on Sept 29/30, Oct 1/8/9/13-22 if they intend to visit B&H
