I know you're excited about getting to go to college but for the love of god, go and enjoy what's left of your summer!

Hey guys, don't worry about reading anything beforehand. Geography in college is a lot different in school and so no previous knowledge is assumed, just go in, enjoy the fabulous Geography lectures, you'll find some boring, a lot interesting, some difficult and most fairly understandable.

As far as I remember, and it may have changed, the first lecture in Geography is all about the history of geography as a discipline which is quite daunting and intense. Don't worry, you won't revisit it again til third year, where you will start from scratch again!

The only thing I can suggest is just keep up on current affairs, not essential, but definitely beneficial to some of the topics that you will cover!

I took up Geography through Science when I was in first year, having not done it for the Leaving Cert. They really don't assume any knowledge past Junior Cert, I was at no disadvantage whatsoever.
Ah, those introductory lectures... In my first-day-of-first-year excitement I dutifully scribbled down absolutely everything from the first Geography lecture, and then found out that it was just for general interest! Oops. So just enjoy them, I was so busy writing I couldn't listen properly (does that make any sense?!)
