Why is it everytime you see young guards (say 25-35) either walking down town on their tea breaks, going to work or leaving from work, they are always wearing g.a.a tracksuit tops? i just dont get it.

Well it takes a certain type of culchie to be a Guard.

Maybe you don't fit the criteria.

It could be student gardai you're seeing, wearing the college tracksuit top. which has the college crest on the left side of the top.

And what's with all them feckin' students wearing Billabong, Ripcurl, Quiksilver and those tired t-shirts where a figure from popular culture is depicted into a cartoonish/Lego-ey fashion?

I suggest a national uniform to replace all clothes. Everybody's too damn unique and individual these days.

I guess being hated by most people appeals to gaa players?

I've never had a run in the the cops but I often see them giving people attitude for no good reason

    yes leaving cert applied.

I think it appeals to the type of people who like "respect" and these are the same type of people who will go out of their way to hassle you if they don't get this "respect". I think alot of filthy scum knacks are like this (they like calling people "cheeky"), and I'm more than certain that alot of guards were filthy scum knacks in the younger days, and indeed still are.

I've never seen this. In fact I passed the Garda station today at lunchtime and the Garda who was leaving the station was wearing his normal uniform.

Also, I live next door to a few Gardai and they don't even know what tracksuit tops (and probably the GAA) are.

you must live next door to a male stripping quartet that you keep seeing going out to a gig and you are mustaken by thier uniforms.

How do you know they're on their teabreaks? They're all on shift work so take different times for "lunch". They could be going to or coming from work as well.

Also they cover their uniforms when they're off duty so they can have an hour off without having to deal with assorted filth bags giving them attitude just because being a Garda involves dealing with scum so the rest of the community don't have to.
