Gamesoc, obviously. But then again I'm biased. =D

It's not on our posters, but we're organising a LAN in Game the World on Grafton Street this Friday night. If there's a lot of interest in that, we'll be organising more of them throughout the year.

What games? Years since I've been to a LAN...

Not really, we don;t concentrate on any kind of games in particular - if you can call it a game, we run it is the attitude we work under. Any kind of concentrating that happens would be purely based on what people are interested in.

There's a list on their website, click here.

Are there any clubs/societies that promote late drinks or nights out for people? I remember the kickboxing and fencing clubs used to head to the bar after classes and I found it a good way to meet people.

Anyone know what other clubs/societies offer this type of thing? I'm eager to have a few beers with people.

I always assumed evry club did this - at various stages, I was involved with different clubs, and they all went for drinks (Hockey, TKD, Caving...)

well, emm,i have no idea why did i join in the first place and involved in the community now :S it is basically a society run by us science (pharmacology, biomed, neuro, chem etc...) students. It is a small society but surprisingly it has been running since 1996!and we are the only club related to toxicology/pharmacology (aka drugs) in Ireland!!:pac:

last year we had some good fun (table quiz, movie nights, paintballing etc) and hopefully we will get better this year :D

*speaking of which, would that sound interesting if we are going to invite someone from academia/industry give us some talk ,example like how to start a company, new drugs, future job prospect, forensic pathology etc.will people be bother to come along?any comments are welcomed.*

Mathsoc is hard to promote (most people = ignorant assholes)
With that attitude, I bet ye'll rake in the members

During Freshers' Week I searched for societies that do dancing. I really wanted to learn (properly ;)) how to do certain types of dance so I was quite dissapointed that there weren't any. But today I noticed DanceSoc notices on walls, the training will start next Monday. I was really happy but unfortunately I joined Judo already and I kinda like it. So I might not join DanceSoc.
Anyone might join the society? Please let me know if u find it interesting, I might consider for next year. :p

Its that time again, the Science Fiction & Fantasy society are running our famous Absinthe Table quiz this week upstairs in the forum bar this Friday (24th) at 8pm.

Questions range from general knowledge to of course, Science fiction.

I don't think there is a travel society but I’m not 100% sure other people might be able tell you

as for coffee morning I think gamesoc have them Friday and sci-fi have them Tuesdays and Thursdays, don't know about other society coffee mornings

you could also ask for the info from the societies themselves in refreshers week which is the first week back

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,462 ✭✭✭✭WoollyRedHat

    Cool, thanks for that.

Hmm, if there is no travel soc, was there ever one, or attempts to set one up?

oh right sorry, are you having anything else on fridays or leaving it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

Yep, Board Games days. We tried running them alongside poker before, but no one was interested, so we're just gonna have them as a friday afternoon event. More info will be in the first newsletter when that goes out.

If you weren't getting newsletters last semester, you can sign up to it here
