    Hi,

Travelling on the dual carriageway some where around portlaoise today,
i was passed by a mini van, with "mini service" ? on the side,
it was flying! i was doing a good 70 and it disapeared,
if their business is making minis go fast, well they are a great ad for themselves,

wonder can they do the same for my 63 volvo...

Can't imagine that being too reliable, or lasting very long either.

Was it a green 'ish one by any chance ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,704 ✭✭✭mountain

not sure about the colour, could of been green,
but i reckon it belongs to a mini specialist as it had "mini service" or something similar on the side.

Also appears to have been on old irish plates.

    hmmm

1.6 vthick civic engine ?? fully built with a t-88 bolted on.... or rebuld the front of the mini and stick on a rover v8.... though if they had any common sense, you either go the bike engine route or the mazda rotary... either of the two...

The mini in the mag has an an A+ Metro block bored to 1293cc uprated to hell and fitted with large turbo and N.O.S. It makes 250 brake @26psi boost without the gas and 310 with.As has been mentioned already i think, reliability is a problem,he rebuilds the engine every year!!
Im only going by what iv read in the article.
He coud be making it all up!!:D

Why would you bother??Where would it fit, where would you fit your running gear, surely the car would handle like a cow on an ice rink with so much weight hanging off the front??

    It sounds like a V8 alright,but i cant see it!!:P

I saw a rover 3.5 lt. V8 on an Alegro box fitted tranversly in the front of a mini clubman without any external body mods in Finland. Real street sleeper.Biggest problem was changing the rear spark plugs

Is this the mini you're talking about? It was a princess gearbox according to the write up....

not really, lenghten the front to accomidate it, sitting the engine as close the firewall as you can, seen it one on on of them discovery car programmes a while back, scrap challenge when thewy have to make reverse wheelie minis, one of the guys had a 4.2 rover block...

needless to say it goes fast...

but a rotoary engine would be a personal choice, though motorbike engines are very common as are vthick's

but on the facotry 1300's.... with Alot of work, you can scrape it to 1.4 with a Big turbo and alot of mind-numbing tuning, if you spent about 2 years perfecting it you could get 300 hp... but it would'nt be practical or relyable... hence why the saying " theres no replacement for displacement.... Well.. a big ol' turbo or nitrous... "

Thats the car alright. His roadster is the car on the left in the third pic, that has nitro injection. The mods to the carb involved a homemade filter using saucepan lids. The Fins have nothing better to do in the dark months!!

Hmmm....Makkara with some Aurun Sinappi, a 6 pack of chilled Lapin Kulta and a BFO barn full of tools, V8 bits and a mini....and a wood fired sauna when you're completely chilled....

Sure what else would you want?
