I have a dell 3000 flatscreen monitor (17"). It has dvi-d and 15-pin de inputs.
I was wondering if I could use this cable: http://www.maplin.co.uk/hmdi_adaptor_.search
to use my ps3 on my monitor. I would just have to get a hdmi cable as well but that isnt any bother to me anyway.
Please help because i dont want to buy something that i will regret if it isnt compatible.
By the way, what type of monitor is it? I don't understand myself. (ie. CRT, VGA, Analogue, Digital etc.) Thanks

Hey colmos you'd be far better off getting a HDMI to DVI cable. No need for adapters and it'd go straight from your PS3 into your monitor. You can pick one up for about €20-30 quid in town and cheaper if you buy online.

    Your monitor is a TFT.

Thanks. I know this will provide video but will it provide audio as well or will I have to do something else for the audio?

So do you mean that I have to us both the hdmi and the av multi-out ouputs at the same when I use it off the monitor?

Can I even use 2 outputs at the same time from the PS3?

Thats great news. Do you have any idea where I could get one of these hdmi-dvi cables in Cork?
Or even any chain you can think of? For example, would maplin have these?

Yeah hdmi out for video, rca's for audio... or optical if you've got something that'll take it... works a treat.
I'd be wary of buying cables like this in bricks'n morter shops, since you're often limited to these bullshít "premium" cables.
Check out the cable prices online before you go shopping IMO.

Is the monitor HDCP compatible? I may be wrong on this one but you may have some issues with displaying protected content if it is not.
