Okay other than being a "clydesdale" and being scared $%&-less about if my body will make it through it, I have no idea what one is supposed to wear.
I'm a swimmer by genetics, played water polo in college, but the running is something foreign to me.

The water temp should be around 70, I'd assume that just wearing a speedo would suffice???

But for the biking and running, what I workout in are spandex shorts with running shorts over them. my biggest concern is chafing legs and butt during the bike and run after being in the water. I don't want to go out and spend $200 on equipment and accessories, so any suggestions??

    thanks.

Maybe have a shower while wearing the spandex shorts and then go for a cycle and run to see how that feels. If it chaffs then you will probably need to look into tri-specific shorts.

Maybe just get some tri shorts because they will be designed not to absorb much water during the swim and padded to be comfortable on the bike.

    Hi There.
Is it an Open Water Swim? AFAIK most (in Ireland anyway) OW swims are Wetsuit compulsory.

If you plan on doing a few Tri's I'd recommend buying a Trisuit (can get a good one for circa €70)

    Enjoy !
