Slight change to DVR?

Earlier today I went to enter a channel and pressed the wrong buttons. I ended up pressing 171 (non-existant) and it went to 151. 151 wasn't what I wanted but it didn't go back to RTE1, is this new? While it didn't get me to the channel I wanted, I quite like the slight intelligence, I don't expect it to know what I meant to press but an estimate is good. Is this new?

I think it's always done this. If you enter a number less than 101 it defaults to the first channel, i.e. RTE 1, but otherwise it goes to the closest one.

Another, slightly related irritation / feature, is if you're browsing the channels and are currently on a non-favourite channel, and then select favourites by pressing the blue button, the behaviour seems to be totally random, at least I haven't found any rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it just stays where it is, and the next time you press the right arrow it jumps to the first favourite after that, and sometimes it immediately jumps to, and starts showing, the first favourite after that. Puzzling.

Another little bug is that if you enter the channel number of the channel you're currently watching, the picture freezes and the sound goes to RTE1.

Ah yes, I noticed that while I was playing around testing this just now ...

No that's not true. It's only been doing this since the update to new EPG and UPC Logo etc. Before that it always went back to 101.

I find it all wrong. If you key in a wrong number it should stay on the channel you are on. I also hate how if you accidently hit off a number and one digit comes up on screen that it then goes back to 101.

I really think that the whole channel changing very fiddly, if you don't key in the 3 digits quickly enough it will also go back to 101 as well, which is silly as their is no benefit in it, unless RTE are paying UPC for this setting :p

This is just a few of the things to my mind (andI have a lot more) that make the UPC DVR a very poor offering when compared to Sky+ and I wish they would update their softare more often!

I'm reasonably proficient at the DVR, and can explain how these work:
    (a) If you enter a non-existent channel number, the DVR will go to the nearest available channel. That's why it always goes to RTE 1 for one or two digit numbers, as that's the nearest available channel. Think it actually explains this in the online manual.
    (b) For the Favourites list, if you are on a channel that's on your Favourites list, you'll stay tuned to that channel. If you're on a channel that's not on your favourites list, it will jump to either the nearest available Favourites channel, or the first channel in your Favourites list (can't remember which).
