I bought the new Pure GHD recently and it says it has universal voltage. link http://www.ghdhair.com/ie/ghd-iv-pure-styler/

How accurate is this statement does anyone know?

The plug is like the old two prong plugs we used to use here so if I was using it in America I would still need an adapter..

It's a 2 prong plug? So it won't fit into Irish sockets?

No sorry I didnt describe it properly.

It's the normal plug we use everyday with the option of loosening one screw and hey presto you now have a two prong plug (like the ones we used to use years ago)

So its kind of like a transforming plug!!

Well I have a new GHD with the normal plug. It works fine in America, all you need is the small adaptor to make it fit into the sockets there. The sockets in America have very thin holes so I don't think it'd work without an adaptor.

Great, that is good to hear!

Did it take long to heat up??

Not particularly. No more than 30 seconds anyway. Didn't notice much difference. Remember you need a hairdryer which has the correct voltage too, maybe buy one over there?

We'll be staying in hotels so I am presuming they will have hairdryers there.. If not sure we can pick one up btween us.

I dont mind too much about a hairdyer as long as the hair straightner works!!
