Can anyone recommend a really nice luxurious hotel to spend a weekend in?

We'd like somewhere quiet where you can just switch off from everything and relax. Large room and nice common areas would probably be the most important criteria as we're likely to spend most of the time in the actaul hotel just chilling out. Also want it to be within a two hour drive of Dublin.

Slightly outside the 2hr drive category but

Adare manor near Limerick or Ashford Castle in Cong about a half hour drive north of Galway out past headford.

Both of those are uber relaxing and you can go shooting or on boat trips at Ashford.

Would have to recommend the Lyrat Estate Hotel in Kilkenny or Kelly's Resort Hotel Rosslare. ! Both have Spa's Food is fab in both and fantastic service! My choice would be the Lyrath for comfort and has a lovely common area . That said you can sit in a canadian hot tub in Kellys looking out into the sea!

Thanks for all the suggestions, will have a look into the different places. A friend suggested Wineport Lodge outside Atlone, anyone stayed there before?
