Sometimes Im terrible and end up with loads of holidays left toward the end of the year. However the company i work for now doesnt allow you carry days over, so its a case of "use it or lose it".

What about you lot? Whats your attitude to holidays? Do you take them and run out before the end of the year? Do you waste holidays? Do you take work calls/emails while off? Whats your employers attitude to holidays, are they flexible or do they require so many week's notice?

Interestingly a new law was passed in China whereby if an employee doesnt take their leave the employer has to pay them 300% their salary for the period!

Always use them up and even have to pinch days from next year for Christmas sometimes.

I carried over nearly 2 weeks from last year but I didn't make that mistake this year, have booked a few quality holidays this year and more planned!

Had been carrying a good few over each year for several years, meant I got to take 39 days off last year though and still had a couple of extra ones left to carry over for this year as well.

That's illegal. It's not possible to "lose" your holidays. If you haven't taken them, your employer is at fault.

I'm pretty bad for not taking them too, I usually end with too much and so take a week off to do nothing.

A lot of employer are going to start getting tight on this - the establishment of NERA means that these kinds of things will be randomly audited so employers will be in trouble if they don't send their employees away on leave.

Yeah, I'm pretty dreadful for this too. Our holiday year runs from June to July too to make things extra confusing.

Also have flextime in work and pretty sure I've banked hours that I'm effectively never going to see again.

think you can carry them over for up to 6 months or something like taht.

i tend to run out of them and end up borrowing days or taking them at my own expense. oh and i have a great doctor the for teh slightest little thing will give you a few days certified and only charges €30 for a visit.

Confusing? short more like the year's only running june to july so you only have two months in which to take 4 weeks holidays?

I can't understand how people have holidays left at the end of the year! I have to eke mine out and even at that, I usually end up minus a few days from the next year's allocation by the time it rolls around...

Can anyone give me their holiday days? Please? :pac:

I can carry over till March, usually end up carrying over 2 weeks and taking a nice long Easter break, take 3 week break in the Summer, week around Christmas and then a few other random long weekends here and there!

I also had a month away from work due to busting a knee during one of the many holidays I took as well.

I've still got about 20, plus a few flexi days. Will prob carry 4 or 5, take a week off, and a ton of days or mornings off for the Christmas drinking period.

I've 1 and a half days to take off between now and October which is grand really. So yes, I made sure to use all my holidays.
