What is a reasonable labour rate for the Dublin area???

From a customers point of view, what would be considered to be a reasonable labur rate for a good indy garage in the greater Dublin area??? I just read on this forum of one customer shopping around and the "going rate" seemed to be 95 Euro an hour. Is this accurate or does it seem at the higher end of the scale for an indy garage in Dublin???

Bit much alright. My local indy put his prices up from 75 to 80 p/h since last year. Not cheap but I trust him. South Dublin.

I would consider 75 - 80 to be reasonable for an independent specialist.

I've paid €60-€65 for a small but sound indy BMW specialist (inner city) for years. For a non-specialist or a non-premium specialist, I'd expect to pay less.

I was just reading a post from someone here about a Mitsubishi who said they checked out labour rates in Dublin and 90 Euro seemed to be where it was at right now, I thought that was very expensive. 60-70 Euro an hour if your on top of your game sounds about reasonable to me.

Link to the post? I'm speculating here, but if it was about a highly tuned car like a Mitsubishi Evo, the rate of €90 seems reasonable enough for an Evo specialist

Not the OP but another post in the thread said 90 Euro was apparently the rate around Dublin... I didn't think it had reached that outside of the main dealer la la land...

No, read on down a bit, another poster said he/she rang around all all were quoting around 90 Euro, I got the impression it was indy garages they were calling...

Yeah I saw that. Don't know who he rang, but it's way too much for a mechanic. Even way too much for an indy specialist imho

That's what I thought, it seemed OTT to me for any indy... Doesn't seem to be supported by the posts on this thread...

Well I've just been quoted 650 for clutch, timing belt and one more small job.... remove the old engine and replace it with one i'm supplying :rolleyes: on an '86 Golf GTI

He's charging 400 for labour and 250 for the clutch and timing belt kit.

Sound reasonable?
