Blowing exhaust

The exhaust on my Dolomite is blowing, somewhere around the manifold. Fast Fit took a look at it last weekend and reckoned it needed replacing. I'm not so sure as it's rare that this is the case. Either way, if I get a replacement they won't fix it (car too old etc). Does anyone here know someone who will look at it for me and do the necessary work?

    As always, any suggestions welcome!

Might be worthwhile to say where you're based.

And have a trawl though this thread for specialists.

Fast Fit are useless IMO, I brought a Golf to them that was blowing at the manifold and he wouldn't do the work, said it made the car sound sportier anyway. Went to Advance and they fixed it within the hour

Thanks Sids Not. I'm out in Lusk and the car is in Santry so not sure when I'll get the chance to get to Bray! If I don't find anyone to look at it closer to home soon I might give you a shout.

Cheers S.I.R. I work about 5 mins from Ringsend so if I can get the car in some day soon I'll get in touch. When would suit you best, weekday or weekend?

S.I.R. - are you anything to the red TR5(?) that's always parked by the side of the road as you come from Sandymount Strand towards town?

Oh yeah, I've seen that. Very rare if it's a TR5, most likely a TR4.
