I'm in the middle of a course of Roaccutane and I have had to stop due to elevated liver enzymes. I want to know if this is dangerous? Is my liver at risk of being damaged, and if so, in what way?
    Thanks very much.

P.S. My derm was not very helpful, thats why I posted here.

Not a medical advice forum so its probably not god to give advice as each case differs. In general though very very unlikely to cause any permanent damage, just a transient rise in liver enzymes that'll be back to normal once you stop the drug. Lots of drugs, alcohol and even some foods can cause raised liver enzymes. The liver is an amazing organ, can regenerate even after some serious damage to it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liver#Regeneration

Sorry, didnt mean to ask for medical advice. I'm off the drug now anyway. I was just wondering what would have happened if I had continued with it? I presume it could have gotten dangerous...?

I had heard from others that the liver usually returns to baseline values once the drug is discontinued.

Ya if you stayed on it and your liver enzymes continued to be raised it could cause liver damage. Hope you have some success with the other acne treatments out there!
