    Hi

Having some problems creating "win photos" such as the above. I'm pretty much winging it here - the method I've been using is to simply draw up the photos on Word. Enter text etc, place the resepctive photos in place, then copy and past in to Paint and save as a jpeg.

It's far from ideal - I don't have photo shop - and I want them all to be A4 (some landscape, some portrait)... What should I be doing because I'm pretty sure I'm p*ssing into the wind here!

    Thanks :)

If you don't have Photoshop and don't want to buy it, take a look at Gimp instead which offers a lot of the functionality for free.

You can also use microsoft publisher in conjunction with maybe picasso which is a free download. I started using publisher years ago in college as part of a desk top publishing course and I'd use it sooner than I would use Photoshop text wise.

I would more be inclined to edit in photoshop or paint shop and then transfer to publisher.

    Thanks everybody...

What is, literally, the best way to go about making one of these photos up? Assuming you the pics you need - ie, the group photo and a good action photo.

Would you suggest starting with a blank Paint document? Or, if I used Gimp, start with a blank Gimp doc and past pics in then add text?

Any pitfalls to watch out for? Finding it very frustrating as I don't really know what I'm doing!

I'm not very good at this kind of thing, so don't take my word for it, but I'd start by opening both pics in Gimp. I'd then make a new blank file in Gimp (and select A4 from the template), then select and copy your original pics and paste them into the new document, resizing as you go.

After that I'd add the text through Gimp - I haven't done that myself, but a quick google for gimp text gives this tutorial that might help: http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/The_Basics/
