    Hi,
I couldn't find an old thread about this, so sorry if there already is one.

I was wondering, if I buy a mobile in the US, will it work in Ireland with a 3 simcard?

    Thanks,
    -gary

It needs to be a 3G phone and then it will work on 3.......

Personally i'd prefer to buy an Irish 3 phone as it's allready preloaded with all the 3 apps and is tested to work with all the 3 ireland services....Ireland is light years ahead of America when it comes to 3G networks and services.

Do the US even have 3G networks yet?

Yes - in some places. However the 3G frequencies in the U.S. are different than here so the op will need to purchase a quad-band phone.
