Thinking of New PC

I have a Dell 8200 1.8mhz since 2002 and I am thinking of upgrading to something a bit faster. I am asking for some guidance in the choice of what might be suitable.
Being of older generation I am not into games but would use the PC for photo and Video work with Photoshop and Nero.
I have been thinking about staying with Dell as my present PC has been trouble free as was the previous one. However I am tempted by the current special at Aldi, €599 and buy seperate flat screen like a Samsung 22".
    Medion 8393.
    Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600
    2.4 GNVIDIA® GEFORCE® 9500 GS graphics with HDMI connection & 512 MB memory Hz, 8 MB L2 Cache, 1066 MHz FSB
    3072 MB Dual Channel memory
    Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
    TV Tuner
A full 3-year warranty is provided with your
    MEDION® AKOYA® P34592 (MD 8393
Has anyone out there any views on the reliabity of Medion or what its supports service is like.

Would I be better off spending the extra few hundred on a Dell XPS420.?

The specs seem very good on the Medion and it would certainly cost nearly twice as much to get the same specs on a dell.
    Any advice greatfully appreciated.
    Thank You

You could get better value online but not by much and it's more hassle. You've got a decent system there for what you want. That graphics card is a bit crap so even though you don't want to you couldn't play games on it but it's fine for what you need.

This system has more memory probably a better case/speaker/keyboard/mouse/power supply and is slightly cheaper when you take out the 22" monitor.

They will build it for you for an additional 25 and deliver it in a week or so for an additional 30.

Forgot to add windows vista which would be an additional 66 euro.

Thanks for the advice on possible new PC. I have been watching the Dell outlet site as well and they have some good deals. Its just a matter of finding one that has the right components.

I am interested in the self build possibility. Is it difficult to put toghter the components for a PC. ?? I have been inside my current Dell to put in extra RAM and a wireless card. Also I changed a Hard drive on the last one.
I guess if one can do that much it is possible to do a reasonable assembly.
    Would that be correct. ???

    Thanks
