    Hi lads.
I was out with the dog last week end shooting bunnies and whilst we stopped for a spell I rested my shotty against a tree(unloaded) and the dog Knocked it over and it hit a rock..Id say it was the only fecking rock in the field too... Well after inspection of the damage i noticed a small dent in the 2nd barrel...As you could imagine i was not a happy camper this scatter gun cost me 1500 squid and ive been so careful minding it in the past..Its a zaballa hermanos athena 12 gauge side by side
Now the question is..Is there anybody out there that can repair small dents in shotguns. Please god let there be someone!!!!!!
The dent is around 8 inches above the chamber.

Just for the sake of saying it, how bad is the dent, do you think it could cause any safety issues

Is it just a little nick in the metal or an actual dent of the tubing??

Is if external only , or did the damage carry to the inside?

I would look down the barrel & see if the dent has caused an indentation on the inside of the barrel - if it has I definitely wouldn't use it.

20 odd years ago one of the lads I shot with dented the barrel on his S/S and the dent could be see slightly when looking down the inside of the barrel.

He continued to use it but after about 9 months a smal hole appeared, getting bigger & bigger over time until eventually it was the size of the diameter of a pencil - same size as original dent!

At the time he sent it to Dublin to be repaired (don't know where & probably gone now!) but after a few months hole appeared again - sent it back - repaired & hole appeared again.

He continued to used the gun for many years with no adverse effects until his death. (the hole was about 8" from the choke end of the barrel)

When duck flighting at dusk it was a sight to see him fire a shot - one could see the flame from the end of the barrel in the dark and also see a long, stringy flame shoot from the hole in the side of the barrel like a shooting star!
