So i take it after another crappy summer wild pheasent, grouse and partridge numbers will be down even more then last year. I think this global warming business will begin to spell the start of major decline in the wild numbers of these birds throughout the country. what do you lads think?

It'll probably be tough on them alright. Bumper crop of foxes to contend with as well, the place is crawling with them.

Why was there a shortage last year?

Of foxes? No, wet summer means a wealth of pheasants washed out of cover and loads of worms and the like, so cubs thrive, but there weren't great pheasant numbers by all accounts.

Right. What else does a wet summer mean? Does it do the otters and the badgers good? Maybe I should start another thread...

there was a shortage of pheasents last year due to the bad weather. they rely on the insect life for the first few weeks and with the bad weather came no insects and hence a lot of wild clutches died off.
