Biking in Australia- Licencing?

    any one know what testing proceedure is in Oz?, thinking of moving there and will swop car for a bike. i dont have a bike licence here so wondering should i get one here or there. also whats insurance and tax like there on bikes? was thinking of a 600cc sports bike like a ninja,R1, GSXR etc

    once you get your L plates (1 full day training + theory test) you can ride anything up to a 660cc as long as you are below a certain power to weight ratio.
    There's a list of bikes (LAMs) that you can check which are allowed on your Ls

    I reckon your better off geting your full license here as i have heard from other bikers that the Oz test is a lot harder and takes longer to complete than here.
