I'm organising a stag for Saturday the 23rd of August and I was just wondering what are the best places to go for a group of about 30 blokes. Any ideas welcome.

Not easy getting a large group into places, have a stag in Manchester myself soon with 30 odd guys too.

You could try to book an area in TGI fridays in Stephens green, cheap enough grub and they do decent cocktails.

Then split into smaller groups and try your luck around that area, break for the border around the corner usually has a few stags/hens about on weekend nights.

In Break for the Border you can book a table for food, so you are already in :-) Eliminates the whole door thing. Also possibly the dogs to start the night, it gives some structure and is good craic.

I organised a stag last month in Dublin.

There's a lovely restaurant in The Italian Quarter called Cactus Jacks. My group was there, and there was another stag upstairs. They do a set menu for €37 per person, and the food is delicious.

We then went to Messrs Maguire, where you can book space no problem, ring them now and request that it's NOT the basement, they won't even ask if it's a stag.

Thanks folks, dinner or the dogs both sound like a good idea. What's Messrs Maguire's like? Most of us are between 25-30.

Messrs is a good spot, and fairly central for people who either can't make dinner or the dogs.

Decent dancable music, they also do their own beers which are relatively cheap, and I've always had good nights in there.

In fact, a couple of Boards Beers have been held in there, and people have always had a good time. (there's another one planned for mid-september too).

Cool, sounds good. I'll give them a ring so and I'll make sure to ask that we don't get the basement. Also did you do anything "funny" to the groom?

Nope, in fact this is the reason we had it in Dublin.

His father had just died, so he didn't want anyone that had to travel to travel too far etc etc, but still, it was a great night. Just not in Amsterdam, Liverpool or Prague. Good night, lots of drink etc, just no "shenanigans", no-one was really in the mood, his dad was my uncle too.

Also, the wedding is in Galway, so he didn't want people having to fork out twice for travelling for his wedding/stag.

But yeah, Messrs is a fantastic spot for organised nights out. Also, it's not temple bar.

Another suggestion I'd have is trying to find one of them organised pub crawl things, they are great for getting crowds into bars, and cost about fifteen quid a head.

Another excellent idea, I'll check that out. Sorry to hear about your loss by the way, hope the wedding went well.

The wedding is this Saturday

I'm sitting here trying to get my speech together. :D

Good luck with that, I'm not the best man, my mates brother is but he lives abroad, I'm a groomsman so I only have to organise the stag night, he has to do the speech!
