Bennis Gone

Limerick county board are seeking nominations for the job as manager.

    From RTE Sport
Richie Bennis' term as Limerick hurling manager has come to an end following a meeting of the county board.

He guided Limerick to an All-Ireland final appearance last season, but this season ended in disappointment when his side were knocked out of the championship by Offaly.

It was thought that Bennis was keen to remain at the helm, but the board have decided to seek nominations for the position.

A special committee has been formed to oversee the selection process.

No surprise really, but who do people see coming in to replace him? Tony Considine's name is being mentioned again.

On a side note, I thought I heard yesterday that the Galway county board were meeting last night too, but there haven't been any reports on whether Ger Loughnane will be staying on or not. Anyone heard anything?

Considine would be a great choice

    No word yet on Loughnane.

No surprise to see Bennis gone. His position was pretty much untenable after his heavy criticism of the players in a newspaper article.
