Overlapping tooth

I used to have a very slight overlap in my front teeth - the left overlaps the right a little, but it was never really visible to anyone looking at me, just to the touch really.

Over the last six months or so I feel that the overlap looks and feels more pronounced than it used to, even in photos. I shrugged it off until my mum mentioned that she thought it was worse than it used to be too. I haven't had any dental work done in the last year, no extractions, no fillings, no new or old teeth that could have pushed them together or left gaps etc.

So my question is, is it possible that over time the formation of your teeth can change like this? I'm 26 and never realised that an overlap could become more pronounced as you got older despite no movement taking place otherwise...or maybe I'm just imagining it. I'd get a brace fitted if I thought it might get worse. Anyone else experienced this?

    Short answer - yes!

Sounds exactly like me. My top 2 front teeth got pushed back a little. Then over years the 2 teeth either side starting coming out and across my front teeth. All very gradual. I have only just decided to get braces now, and wish I had sooner when I first started thinking about it. Would have them off and all by now and would have straight teeth.

So my advice - if you're considering braces do it now before you put it off any longer and end up like me!!
