So Im thinking of puttin in a CV for bar work at Elec Pic. They said they are interested in ppl who live quite close. I live 8 miles away from stradbally, so I fit that bracket, and have worked in bars during college and currently at weekends, so fit that bracket. Want to see if anyone has any experience working at festivals, I have a couple of questions.....

    Hows the pay, okish?
    Is it any craic?
Can I head into festival early and have a look about?
If a couple of mates are at festival, can I head off to campsite after work to shoot the breeze, or better even if the bar closes before last act, catch a bit of the gig?

Any experiences, or even opinions, greatly welcome.
    ta very much

Here's an idea - put these questions to the company you applied to.

    Thread locked.

Bit harsh eth0 ffs. If anyone has prior experience let them speak.

Been wondering myself, have a mate who is more than likely doing security, so want to see if I can wrangle a job at it.

    As for what they do

a- At *forbidden music thing 2004* I was in the dance section on the Sunday afternoon. Whether they stole them or not I dont know but there was a gang of lads in Event Security yellow jackets wired to the moon dancing away to Felix Da Housecat :pac:

I used to do security at gigs and festivals.
Usually you are working the whole time that you are there except for your lunch break but depending where in the venue you are based you can enjoy the festival as much as anyone else.
For bar staff there it is a long long day and you are crazy busy for your whole shift but I reckon it would be fun too:)

Yea, I think Ill go ahead with it, irregardless, if it was completly hard work, I could just walk out. But hopefully, Ill get an hour or two at elec pic, and be €300ish the better for it, rather than the worse

I'm sorry, who made you a moderator?

I thought the thread was pointless because every job of this sort is different and varied. His questions would be best answered by the company he applied to.

My fellow mod disagreed with me and unlocked the thread, which is fair enough. But I still think the OP should ask these questions (tactfully) during the interview.

Maybe some of those questions could be asked in an interview, maybe, very tactifully. Their certainly not going to help me get the job. Why not post and see if anyone has any experience working these things? Such as Moonbeam had above.

I did promotions at another music festival. Great job, was finished very early. Dunno about bar work though.
