3 pc problems

    I'm one of those people that knows so little about computers, I should be barred from having one.

    I have 3 problems with my PC and I was hoping someone can help!

    1) The PC no longer recognizes the fact I have a DVD drive installed. I checked the inside and the connections seem fine. Any idea what could be wrong?

    2) When I try to print a document, on the printer status screen i get 50-60 little files which the computer cannot recognize instead of the document I am printing? You know that icon with the little shapes that show your pc cant recognize the file type? Thats the one.

    3) It's running a little slow recently...any good websites on how to speed up performance.

    I'm sorry if ye are :rolleyes: when reading, but I'm completely clueless when it comes to the basics of PCs lol

    if youre clicking on websites that claim to speed up your performance that was your first mistake. For that much strange behavior: read this - http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055274237

    try this for problem 1

    someone else is gonna have to help you with

    and problem 3
    download these few programs, install them,update them and run them, the programs are as follows,
    spybot, adaware,ccleaner, also make sure you have at least some kind of up to date antivirus software, a decent free one is avg free 8

    when you have all those done, defragment your hard drive by going to start-programs-accesories-system tools- disk defragementer (for xp)
