    Hi,

Any reason not to buy this laptop? I'm probably going to pick one up this evening.

    PC World - Inspiron 1720, €549
    Specs:

Intel Pentium Dual Core T2390 1.83Ghz
    2 GB DDR2-667
    120GB Sata 5400rpm hdd
    256MB 8600M GT graphics
    slot for second hard drive
    17" 1440x900 widescreen with Truelife
    802.11 b/g wireless
    keyboard with numeric keypad
    SD cardslot
    2mb webcam
    Vista SP1

It is for my g/f and will be used for web browsing, e-mail, word processing, etc. Probably a little gaming and watching dvd's. Not worried about the weight as it won't be carried around much outside the house.

Seems like a good spec for the price.

    Thanks

well, for one its PC World.

Second, the 8600GT. Its had mucho problems in the past with overheating. New builds are resolving the issue but I'm betting whatever PC World has in stock has been sitting their for a while. That said if you encounter issues with heat, its covered under Dell's warranty, and its still a decent performing card (It'll play Crysis on low, smoothly), and will tackle any non-gaming app very well. You will end up having to send it off to be serviced but its under warranty so that will be at no cost to you, and besides the minor headache its still a good machine.

I'd go configure the same build on dell.ie and see what they've got instead.

The model on the right has twice as much disk space and an extra gig of ram. You still ultimately get the lowest price deal from PC World.

Ended up going for a 15" screen Studio 1535. Bought it from the dell outlet on ebay. 2.1ghz, 320gb hd, 4gb ram, 256mb gfx for €660.

2 most common cards out there are still the 8400m gs and the 8600m gt
