Hi all, I am going over to Sweden soon for the World Tug of War Championships in Stenungsund, arriving Wednesday and returning home on the following Monday.
I need to get some swedish krona for the trip. Has anyone got any idea how much I'd need. I think that a euro is equivalent to around 9 krona or something. My accomodation is paid for already. Won't be spending too much just a few snacks and maybe some drink on the last night:)
Would I get away with 200 euros worth of krona?

As to how much you should bring, I can't advise an exact amount as
    people and their tastes differ.

Stockholm for example is slightly more expensive than Dublin.
Beer is maybe €1 a pint more expensive but spirits are more
    expensive.

Eating out in Stockholm is not cheap, I'm unsure how the regional towns
    and cities compare.

Prices will vary depending where and what you eat/drink. Figure out
how much you'd spend if you were going to Dublin for a similar time and
add on 20% would be my advice.

    Aight lad,

Was over in Gothenburg at the start of the year... prices for food and drink are similar to what you pay here (drink maybe same/50c more than in Dublin pubs).. food slightly cheaper than here - evens out in the end to be honest...

Be careful of times there though - their offies only open for certain hours on certain days (cant remember exactly but im sure u can google it) - which means if your late - u miss out! :p

Also the drink in supermarkets is limited.. ie it has a very low alcohol content (2/3 i think) and even the wines in supermarket are limited to this also.. so your stuck bar buying medical supplies and drinking those haha...

Best of luck... your gonna love it there.. women are AWESOME!... there isnt a bad gene in the nation!... the only ugly people we say while there were tourists... swede's are gorgeous...

If you are bringing a credit card with you in case you run out of cash, you'll need some photo id. They nearly always ask in shops for it.

The bottle shops are called System Bolagets, they're open monday till friday until 7:30 or so and then on saturdays but they close earlier. The supermarket does sell beer, but only 3.5% (and it's pretty disgusting).

As I recall, the public transport in stockholm is pretty expensive also.

Thanks, do you get charged extra for using the credit card over there?

there's a standard fee for taking money out through the hole in the wall, but not for buying stuff at point of sale.

You will prob need 100 SEK per meal.
Change 100 Euro to SEK, the rest you can get from the wall as you go :)
