Buying Logic Pro 8

I'm on a bit of a budget, so I'm shopping around for the best deals on Logic Pro 8. I've found a seller on ebay in the UK who is selling it for €290 (inc. postage), which seems pretty reasonable. It's a proper apple verified, sealed pack. Is this the best deal I'll get?

To be honest man your best bet is to buy it new. If you buy it new you will receive apple support. If your disk breaks or gets damaged you can haggle with them to replace it, I have done this in the past and it is an advantage. If the logic disks you buy are in any way slightly scratched you may be in for an extra long installation if it installs at all.

Get Logic Express, you can always upgrade later when budget allows.

The one I'm buying is new, sealed and is under warranty :)

    Look for yourself:

The price over here is a rip off...

yeah dude, just get Logic Express if you're tight on budget. Its almost as good as Logic Pro and will certainly do you the job. Then when you've saved up enough, you can always upgrade to the Pro version.

    Sounds questionable.
I know, as one who sells it, that the margin is very low on Apple stuff so that figure would be lower that my supplier sells it to me!

Why do you say that ?-

There's Apple's price , Euro 479 is terriffic value for such a package, Logic 7 was about Euro 1100 !

A quick look at Seller's Feedback comes up with this Negative posting ....

Seller requested more money for shipping! Buyer: akselsclerose ( 40) 05-Aug-08 23:20
LOGIC STUDIO 8 PRO SEALED INTEL UNIVERSAL UNREGISTERED (#250272280524)"

    Ok, maybe I'm speaking relatively..

Paul; yes, Logic Pro 8 is actually super cheap when you consider:
    - All the stuff you're getting
    - Compared to Logic 7
    - Compared to other applications with less features at the same price

    But €290 vs. €479. That's €189 of a difference

I'm on a budget, but I reckon I may as well go for the full version of Logoc pro when I'm at it. Paul Brewer first pointed me at Logic, and I've been amazed at all the features and functionality it provides.

But at the same time, 99.4% positive isn't bad for a powerseller with 1737 sales in the past year alone :)

You're going on the word of the seller that the software is sealed, unregistered and ok.
Paul managed to find feedback that would make me very dubious about this seller.

With software, you're better off buying from a reputable source. You don't want to have to go through weeks of trying to settle a dispute, or cancelling an order cause the dude is asking for more money.

Risk is yours Dagon, but I wouldn't touch it.
Logic Express gives you most of what Pro gives you, missing a couple of the fancier plugins and the samplebank. I had used a copy of Pro before I bought Express for myself, and I didn't find I was missing out.

I agree, it is a risk. It could pay off, then again you could be unlucky! But that's ebay for ya.

You can't go wrong if you buy off a reputable source, and if you're able to return the s/w if something goes wrong.

Postage seems a bit excessive. Apart from that it's a sealed retail version of logic so there's nothing wrong with that. I'm assuming it is sealed, I see no reason to doubt the guy.
I see no reason why there would be a problem with it, looks like a score to me!

quote" Complete with manual, coa (license key) and registration card. You will be the first & only licensed owner/user, you will be able to able to register for Apple support. They are universal ie compatible with new intel chip & non intel Power PC macs. Language compatibility: English, French, German + more."

You could also looking into buying a Educational version if you qualify for that.

What can go wrong? It's a DVD.
Whenever I've had problems with software I usually ended being told to contact the maker anyway.

Hardware now is a different issue...

Not much with the DVD, it's only possible problems could be authorisation with the install.

However if it's as it's described that's a great deal!

Why don't you buy logic express for 190 and then you can have 100eur to buy some cool software plug-ins or some hardware or anything... Express will do 90% of the job the Pro does.
Only thing bout Pro over the express is that its got better plug-ins and you can mix in surround sound.
