My mam came to me this evening with this article in her hand but, like, I thought that it would have been fairly obvious that something like this 'runs in the family'. We are, after all, roughly 50% mother and 50% father.

Yeah but with things related to the mind problems are usually attributed mainly to psychology/environment and how much of our psychological make up is due to genetics is unclear AFAIK

i had two very opposite parents, mom who worried and was ott and a father who was very "she'll be fine".

So between them both im a good mixture and not overly panicy

From my own side of the fence, I'm amazed at how similar I am to my birth parents, behavior and health. I always wondered about that. I know mine is just one case but everything from attitude to career to nervous disposition matched and we were certainly worlds apart in terms of life course and all that

Any studies I have come across of adoptee-parent similarities are awful but I would imagine it would be an interesting place to start, if it were even possible to conduct

Anyone aware of anything else in this area - genetics and anxiety or mental illness in general? Or have a citation for the study mentioned if it has been published yet?
