Looking for to go skiing with a group of about 10-16 people somwhere
in europe for mid term week in feb (sat feb 14 09)

half are begininers and others are intermediate maybe one or two a bit
    better

been looking up sites everwhere but its pretty daunting the amount of
    possiblities and possible issues.

Has anyone got any good sites for finding out more information or even
    some recomendations on place

It is also important to have decent apres-ski and not too expensive.

    Hi there!

    The best place for:

    beginners...
    cheap holiday...
    Great Apres- ski...(totally wild...)
    cheap booze !
    tax free

    has to be Andorra.

Much cheaper to go skiing here than France or Italy. Bulgaria also good !

I would go to Austria tbh!

Andorra has a long transfer - most places in Austria are not more than 2 hours from an airport. One of the cheaper resorts is Zell am See - the skiing is great, and if the snow isn't that good (which is unlikely in Feb) you can go to the Glacier resort of Kaprun, just one town over. So you are guaranteed skiing. Be warned! Mid term is going to be one of the priciest times of the year. Apres ski in Austria is usually fantastically cheesy with plenty of beer-clonking and dancing around in your salopettes. Zell had a good range of bars and some great places on the slopes - one that comes to mind was a place that you had to be pulled along by a skidoo to get to!

If you want to rent a chalet, France is your best bet. But be warned! Prices of meals & drinks on the slopes are very expensive.

We go in a group - usually about 16-20 people every year with mixed abilities. I do the booking/organising so I'm fairly familiar with the different companies. I would steer away from DIY with a larger group - as it does tend to get messy. Package holliers will be your best bet. I would also just pick one resort and start looking there and comparing prices between agents, or else your head will be mithered! The travel agents are usually open to a spot of barganing, esp in this economic climate! Free skis and boots aren't really what you want (as you can be stuck getting crappy equipment from some crappy shop). Try to get some free lift passes and/or group discounts. Before you go away - you can usually get discounts from ski shops in the resort. Just e-mail them with your dates and ask for your best price. You'll should be able to get at least 10% off.

If you're booking a group I would contact the agents directly, not just check the website. Pick a resort and fire off an email to each agent and see who comes back with the best deal.
