Could anyone provide a link where I could see the evergreen share price, can't seem to get any reference to it on BOI site.

    Thanks.

Here is where i check the bad news about the price of this fund.

    http://www.bankofirelandlife.ie/Investment-Updates/Unit-Prices/Regular-Savings-Funds-(Gross).aspx

I have my own question as to what to do regarding my investment in the Evergreen Fund (S4)
I put in €15,000 back in Oct 07, and €300 a month since. So i have paid in 18,900 so far.
I rang this morning, to hear that the valuation is now only €12,800.
So in a year i have lost €6,000.
And as i have recently lost my job, it is really something i could have done without.

Should i cut my losses and cash in the €12,800, or maybe stop my contributions for a month or 2 until i get a new job?
The fund is losing value rapidly it seems, and i can't afford to lose more on it.
At the moment apart from what i have in that fund, i only have about another €1,500. And with my rent @ €600 a month and Christmas coming..i will be very short on money.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

Your situation seems serious enough - judging by what you said and assuming you are drawing the dole, let's say at €650 per month and you keep your outgoings to only €100 per week, even after cancelling your Evergreen payments - you will be broke by the end of February.

Therefore, the only logical thing to do seems to be to cancel your current contributions to what is obviously an underperforming asset. Although it is important to save for later in life etc. the most important thing for you now is to be liquid so you don't have to take on emergency borrowings in 2/3 months time if you can't find a job (which is a possibility in this environment). The cost of debt will FAR exceed any potential after-tax return you receive form this fund in the near-term.

So, unfortunately it looks to me that you have to take this loss on the chin as you don't have any other liquid assets besides your €1,500 which won't last you very long.

I hope things work out for you, good luck with everything

    ^ Thanks for that advice.
It was pretty much what i was thinking myself, but just wanted another opinion.
Its unfortunate the way it has gone for me recently, and i will just have to take the loss i suppose.
